BOOK REVIEW: Isabella Babysits Baxter by Melissa Perry Moraja

This is a charming story with lovable characters. The illustrations are humorous and have an appealing simplicity.

A fun book to share or read alone, it certainly hit the spot with my youngest son – who has since demanded another read!

I like the way the pictures prompt questions, and that Isabella’s and Baxter’s footsteps are lovingly retraced by her mother, with occasional comments and exclamations.

From a teacher’s point of view, I can see many opportunities for discussion and prediction, from the details and action of the pictures to social skills such as responsibility and co-operation which are implicit in the text.

I look forward to more books by Melissa Perry Moraja.
